Units
Unit 1
My Five Senses
Take a sensory walk and name what you see, hear, smell and feel. Sort household objects by how they feel, such as rough and smooth.
Learning outcome: KM 1, KES 1.1 · exploring objects and the environment with the five senses, and describing what we notice
Unit 2
Materials

Learning outcome: KM 1 · exploring, describing and sorting the properties of objects and materials
Unit 3
Push & Pull
Telling pushes from pulls, and seeing how a bigger push, an object's shape and its weight change how it moves.
Learning outcome: KE 1.1, KE 1.2 · exploring how objects move when pushed and pulled, and how people and animals move
Unit 4

Learning outcome: KES 1.1 · plants, animals and people as living parts of the environment, and what they need
Unit 5

Learning outcome: KES 1.1 · describing the plants and animals in the environment
Unit 6
Natural or Made
On a walk, point out natural things (trees, rocks, water) and things people made (benches, roads). Ask your child to wonder about what they see.
Learning outcome: KES 1.1, KES 1.2 · describing the environment, including living things, and telling natural objects from objects made by people
Unit 7
Weather & Seasons
Dressing for the weather, the four seasons in order, day and night, and how plants and animals change with the seasons.
Learning outcome: KES 1.3 · noticing changes in the environment, such as weather, sunlight, day and night
Unit 8
Care for Our Earth
Show how your family reuses and recycles. Spend time outside, and talk about taking only what you need and leaving nature as you found it.
Learning outcome: KES 1.4, KES 1.5 · protecting the environment by reducing waste, reusing and recycling, and feeling connected to and caring for nature
Unit 9
Follow the Steps
Instructions are the first idea behind computer coding. Cook, build or play a game together and say the steps out loud in order.
Learning outcome: KCS 1.1, KCS 1.2 · understanding the purpose of instructions, and following steps in the right order
