Units

  1. Unit 1

    Changing Materials

Ways to change materials: cutting, bending, mixing, warming and cooling keep the same material, while cooking, burning and rusting make something new.

Learning standard: 2.P1U1.1; 2.P4U1.3 · describing materials, and how heat can change them

  2. Unit 2

    Solids & Liquids

Sorting solids and liquids, describing melting, freezing and boiling, and changes that can or can't be undone.

Learning standard: 2.P1U1.2 · how heating or cooling changes a substance between solid and liquid

  3. Unit 3

Learning standard: 2.P1U1.1 · matter has mass, takes up space and is recognized by its properties

  5. Unit 5

    Fast & Slow Earth Changes

  7. Unit 7

    Weather Hazards & Solutions

Practices judging design solutions that reduce harm from weather hazards like floods, windstorms, lightning and snow, and solutions to problems when habitats change.
