How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- Your five senses are sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.
- In the eye, the pupil lets light in and the lens focuses it. The pupil shrinks in bright light.
- Loud noise for a long time can damage hearing.
Example: What happens to your pupil in bright light? Too much light can hurt your eye. The pupil lets less light in. Answer: it gets smaller

Gradelings describes a child's practice on this unit as Beginning, Approaching, Meeting or Exceeding (Four practice steps). That reflects practice, not a report-card mark: the teacher decides the mark.
