Maine Learning Results learning standard: 1-LS1-1 · how plants use their outside parts to survive and grow

How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. Roots take in water. Stems hold the plant up.
  2. Leaves make food. We eat the leaves of lettuce.
  3. Flowers make seeds. Seeds grow into new plants.

Example: What do flowers help a plant make? Flowers turn into fruit with seeds inside. Answer: seeds
