World Timeline 600–1900
Put world history in order
What your child practices
Ordering events in world history from the Tang dynasty to the Berlin Conference, across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Maine Learning Results learning standard: History 1 · putting major events in world history from 600 to 1900 in order
How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- Put events in order by their years: smaller years came first.
- Anchor dates help: Norman conquest 1066, Luther’s 95 Theses 1517, Haiti’s independence 1804, Berlin Conference 1884.
- If you don’t know a year, think about what came before it, such as empires before revolutions.
Example: Which happened first: Haiti declares independence or the Norman conquest of England? The Norman conquest was in 1066. Haiti declared independence in 1804. 1066 is earlier. Answer: the Norman conquest of England
