How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- Order events by year: the smaller year came first.
- Anchors: Bastille 1789, Waterloo 1815, Communist Manifesto 1848, Adwa 1896, World War I 1914, Hitler in power 1933, the Berlin Wall falls 1989.
- Think of the order of big eras: revolutions, empires, world wars, the Cold War, today.
Example: Which happened first: Ethiopia defeats Italy at Adwa or Napoleon is defeated at Waterloo? Waterloo was in 1815. Adwa was in 1896. 1815 is earlier. Answer: Napoleon is defeated at Waterloo
