How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. Yesterday and long ago are the past.
  2. Today is now.
  3. Tomorrow and later are the future.

Example: “I will play later.” Is it past, now or future? “Will” and “later” mean it has not happened yet. That is the future. Answer: future

Gradelings describes a child's practice on this unit as Beginning, Approaching, Meeting or Exceeding (Four practice steps). That reflects practice, not a report-card mark: the teacher decides the mark.
