Our Land
Nature, buildings and caring
What your child practices
Natural and human-made features, how the land shapes how we live, and caring for it by reducing, reusing and recycling.
New York State Learning Standards learning standard: 1.6a; 1.6b · the natural resources people depend on and how they change the land to meet their needs
How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- Natural things come from nature: trees, oceans, flowers.
- People make things like houses, roads and schools.
- We help nature when we recycle and pick up litter.
Example: Where should an empty plastic bottle go? Plastic bottles can be made into new things. So they go in the recycling bin. Answer: recycling bin
