Units
Unit 1
Count to 10
Counting objects one at a time, matching numbers to amounts, counting on and back, putting numbers in order, and knowing that nothing is zero.
Learning outcome: N01, N03, N06 · saying the number sequence, relating numerals to quantities and counting to 10
Unit 2
Numbers to 20
Counting to 20 forward and back from any number, recognizing small groups at a glance, and comparing two numbers.
Learning outcome: N01 · saying the number sequence by 1s to 20
Unit 3
See It Fast
Subitizing means knowing how many are in a small group without counting. Practise with dice, dominoes and fingers: show a number and ask how many.
Learning outcome: N02 · recognizing and naming small quantities at a glance
Unit 4
Make 5 and 10
Using 5 and 10 as anchors (fingers, five and ten frames), finding how many more make 5 or 10, and breaking numbers into two parts.
Learning outcome: N04 · representing and describing numbers 2 to 10 in two parts
Unit 5
More, Less, Same
Comparing groups by matching them one to one, seeing equal as balanced and unequal as unbalanced on a scale, and reading simple picture graphs.
Learning outcome: N05 · comparing quantities 1 to 10 with one-to-one correspondence
Unit 6
Patterns
Spotting the part that repeats in patterns like AB, AAB, ABB and ABC, then predicting what comes next or what is missing.
Learning outcome: PR01 · repeating patterns with two or three elements
Unit 7
Shapes & Sizes
Naming flat shapes and solid objects by one feature (sides, corners, rolls or not), and comparing things by size, height, length, weight and how much they hold.
Learning outcome: M01, G01, G02 · comparing objects by one attribute, sorting and building 3-D objects
