Spotting the part that repeats in patterns like AB, AAB, ABB and ABC, then predicting what comes next or what is missing.

How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practise.

  1. A pattern repeats the same part again and again.
  2. Find the part that repeats.
  3. Say it out loud to find what comes next.

Example: red, blue, red, blue, red, ? The part that repeats is red, blue. After red comes blue. Answer: blue
