Weather & Climate
Weather data in tables and graphs, and climates around the world.
What your child practices
Your child reads weather data to find patterns in a season and compares climates in different regions of the world, including Alabama's.
Alabama Course of Study content standard: 3.13; 3.14 · showing seasonal weather data in tables and graphs, and describing climates in different regions
How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- Weather is today's air. Climate is the usual weather over many years.
- Tropical rainforests are hot and wet. Polar places are cold all year.
- On a bar graph, the tallest bar shows the most.
Example: Which climate is cold all year? Polar places are near the North and South Poles. Answer: polar
