How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. Integers are whole numbers and their opposites: …, −2, −1, 0, 1, 2, ….
  2. On a number line, numbers to the right are greater.
  3. To compare decimals, line up the places and compare from the left.

Example: Which is greater, −3 or −7? On a number line, −3 is to the right of −7. Numbers further right are greater. Answer: −3
