How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- A forecast tells what the weather will be.
- It helps us get ready for storms, snow or heat.
- If you hear thunder, go inside.
Example: A very hot day is coming. What helps? Heat makes us thirsty. Drink lots of water. Answer: drink lots of water
Stormy Weather in Arizona
In the Arizona Academic Standards, this is unit 3 of 7 in Kindergarten Science, after Weather & Seasons and before Sky & Seasons.
Gradelings describes a child's practice on this unit as Beginning, Approaching, Meeting or Exceeding (Four practice steps). That reflects practice, not a report-card mark: the teacher decides the mark.
