Fractions, Decimals & Percents
Convert, compare and use ratios
What your child practices
Moving between fractions, decimals (including repeating decimals) and percents, finding a percent of a number, and simplifying and scaling ratios.
Maine Learning Results learning standard: 7.NS.A.2; 7.RP.A.3 · writing equivalent numbers as fractions, decimals and percents and using them in percent problems
How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- A fraction to a decimal: divide the top by the bottom.
- A decimal to a percent: multiply by 100.
- Percent means out of 100.
Example: Write 3/4 as a decimal and a percent. 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75. 0.75 × 100 = 75%. Answer: 0.75 = 75%

- 0.555…
- 0.444…
- 0.666…
