  2. A verb is an action word. An adjective describes a noun.
  3. An adverb tells how, when or where. Many adverbs end in -ly.

Example: Which word is an adjective? “The playful kitten chased a ball.” An adjective describes a noun. “Playful” tells what the kitten is like. Answer: playful
