Units
Unit 1
Add & Subtract
Adding and subtracting 2- and 3-digit numbers by place value, number-line jumps and counting up, plus estimating by rounding to the nearest hundred.
Benchmark: 3.3.5.5 · adding and subtracting within 1000 with place value strategies
Unit 2
Multiplication
Understanding multiplication as equal groups, arrays, repeated addition and skip counting. Easier sets use 2s, 5s and 10s; stretch sets go beyond 5 × 5.
Benchmark: 3.3.5.6; 3.3.5.7 · multiplication as equal groups, and multiplying within 144
Unit 3
Division
Understanding division as sharing fairly and as making equal groups, and using multiplication facts to divide (3 × 4 = 12, so 12 ÷ 3 = 4).
Benchmark: 3.3.5.6; 3.3.5.7 · division as sharing into equal groups, and dividing within 144
Unit 4
Fractions
Naming fractions of a shape, a set and a number line, knowing what the top and bottom numbers mean, and comparing fractions by the size of their parts.
Benchmark: 3.3.5.9; 3.3.5.12 · halves, thirds, fourths and eighths of a whole, and comparing unit fractions
Unit 5
Patterns & Equations
Extending increasing and decreasing patterns, describing pattern rules in words and tables, and solving one-step equations like ☐ + 8 = 23.
Benchmark: 3.3.6.1; 3.3.7.1 · finding a missing value in a number sentence, and input-output rules
Unit 6
Measuring
Measuring with centimeters and meters, grams and kilograms, milliliters and liters: choosing sensible units, estimating, comparing and solving measurement problems.
Benchmark: 3.2.3.2 · comparing the sizes of units in one system, such as grams and kilograms
Unit 7
Numbers to 10,000
Reading, writing and comparing numbers up to 10,000: place value, expanded form, number lines, ordering and rounding.
Benchmark: 3.3.5.2; 3.3.5.3 · place value in big numbers, and comparing and ordering them
Unit 8
Round & Count
Rounding numbers to the nearest ten or hundred, counting forward and back by 50s, 100s and 200s, and comparing and ordering numbers up to 1000.
Benchmark: 3.3.5.4 · estimating sums and differences with place value
Unit 9
Sorting Polygons
Practices naming polygons by their number of sides and sorting them as regular (all sides and angles equal) or irregular.
Benchmark: 3.2.4.1 · naming polygons by their number of sides
Unit 10
Times Tens
Multiplying a one-digit number by a multiple of ten (like 6 × 40) using a basic fact and place value.
Benchmark: 3.3.5.8 · multiplying one-digit numbers by multiples of 10
Unit 11
Halves & Fourths of an Inch
Measuring lengths to the nearest half and quarter inch, then reading the measurements from a table like a line plot.
Benchmark: 3.2.3.1 · measuring lengths to the nearest fourth of an inch
Unit 12
Scaled Graphs
Reading picture graphs and bar graphs where each picture or step stands for 2, 5 or 10, answering how many more and how many in all, and choosing questions a survey can answer.
Benchmark: 3.1.1.5; 3.1.1.3 · reading and making bar graphs and picture graphs with different scales
