Find Out & Sort

Find information, sort it and compare.

What your child practices

Practices finding information in spoken, picture, object and print sources, sorting things by one rule, using tools such as a ruler or magnifying glass, and comparing things by how they are alike and different.

Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) teks student expectation: K.13(C); K.13(D) · gathering information from pictures, people and objects, and sorting it

How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. Sorting means putting things into groups.
  2. Compare: how are they the same? How different?
  3. We find out by looking, asking and reading.

Example: Dog, cat, car. Which does not belong with animals? A dog is an animal. A cat is an animal. A car is not alive. Answer: car
