How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- Test contractions with the long form: it’s = it is, they’re = they are, who’s = who is.
- Then compares time, than compares things. Lose means misplace, loose means not tight.
- Affect is usually a verb (to change). Effect is usually a noun (the result). Accept means receive, except means leaving out.
Example: “The weather can ___ your mood.” affect or effect? The blank needs a verb: to change something. Affect is the verb. Answer: affect
