Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards benchmark: 1.3.5.3 · counting forward and backward from any number up to 120

How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. Skip count by 2s, 5s or 10s.
  2. Find how much the number grows each time.
  3. Keep adding that much to find the next number.

Example: Count by 5s: 15, 20, 25, 30, ? Each step adds 5. 30 + 5 = 35. Answer: 35
