Posters, Slides & Media

Share ideas with words, pictures, sound and design.

What your child practices

Practices multimodal texts (posters, slide shows, videos, photo essays), planning a layout, choosing visuals and fonts, and picking the best way to share a message with an audience.

New York State Learning Standards learning standard: 3SL5 · choosing words, pictures and layout for posters and talks

How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. A multimodal text uses more than one way to share a message, like words with pictures or sound.
  2. Plan the layout so the most important part stands out.
  3. Choose fonts and colors that are easy to read, like dark words on a light page.

Example: Which is a multimodal text: a poster with words and pictures, or a page of words only? Multi means many. The poster uses two ways: words and pictures. Answer: a poster with words and pictures
