Feelings and Reasons

Words for feelings and senses, and saying why.

What your child practices

Your child finds the words in a short text that show feelings and the five senses, picks the detail that explains what happened, and practices giving an opinion with a reason (“I like it because…”).

How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. Our five senses: see, hear, smell, taste, touch.
  2. Feeling words: happy, sad, tired, scared.
  3. “Because” tells a reason: I like cats because they purr.

Example: “The puppy is soft.” Which sense tells you that? You feel soft with your hands. That is touch. Answer: touch
