How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- To round to the nearest ten, look at the ones digit.
- If the ones digit is 5 or more, round up. If less than 5, round down.
- Skip count forward or back by 10s, 50s or 100s.
Example: Round 166 to the nearest ten. The ones digit is 6, which is 5 or more. Round up: 170. Answer: 170
