Benchmark: 2.3.6.1 · comparing two- and three-digit numbers using hundreds, tens and ones

  2. Unit 2

    Facts to 20

Fluent facts to 20 using strategies like making ten and thinking addition to subtract.

Benchmark: 2.3.5.8 · fluently adding and subtracting within 20 with mental strategies

  3. Unit 3

    Adding to 100

Two-digit adding and subtracting by working with tens and ones, including making a new ten.

Benchmark: 2.3.5.7; 2.3.5.9 · adding and subtracting two-digit numbers with place value strategies

  4. Unit 4

    Measuring

Benchmark: 2.2.3.3; 2.2.3.1 · measuring and estimating lengths with rulers and meter sticks

  5. Unit 5

    Shapes

Describing shapes by their sides, corners (vertices) and faces, and spotting 3D shapes in real life.

Benchmark: 2.2.4.1 · sorting shapes by their number of sides, faces and vertices

  6. Unit 6

    Graphs

Reading picture graphs: how many, which has the most or fewest, and how many more.

Benchmark: 2.1.1.3 · showing and reading data in picture graphs and bar graphs

  7. Unit 7

    Numbers to 1000

Reading and building numbers up to 1000 with hundreds, tens and ones, counting forwards and backwards by 10s and 100s, even and odd numbers, estimating with 100s as benchmarks, and comparing with <, > and =.

Benchmark: 2.3.5.2; 2.3.5.4 · reading, writing and comparing numbers to 1000 with hundreds, tens and ones

  8. Unit 8

    Fractions of a Whole

A fraction names equal parts of one whole. Children read unit fractions such as 1/4 and 1/8, learn that more equal parts means smaller parts, and name fractions like 3/4 from a picture. All wholes are cut into 10 or fewer equal parts.

Benchmark: 2.3.5.10 · sharing a whole equally among 2 or 4 groups and naming the parts

  9. Unit 9

    Skip Counting

Skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s forward and backward from 0 to 100, using a hundred chart or number line.

Benchmark: 2.3.7.2; 2.3.5.1 · skip-counting, and counting collections in groups of tens and hundreds

  10. Unit 10

    Dollars & Cents

US money: pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar bills. Counting a handful of coins, making an amount, and word problems with the ¢ and $ signs.

Benchmark: 2.2.3.7 · finding the value of a group of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters

Benchmark: 2.2.3.1; 2.2.3.6 · estimating lengths in inches, feet, centimeters and meters, and solving length problems

  12. Unit 12

    Arrays

Adding equal rows to find the total in an array (up to 5 by 5), and cutting a rectangle into rows and columns of squares. This gets ready for multiplication.

Benchmark: 2.2.3.5; 2.3.7.1 · splitting a rectangle into rows and columns of squares, and number patterns in arrays

  13. Unit 13

    Add & Subtract to 1000

Adding and subtracting three-digit numbers using place value, and adding or taking away 10 or 100 in their head.

Benchmark: 2.3.5.6; 2.3.5.3 · adding and subtracting within 1000, and finding 10 or 100 more or less

  14. Unit 14

    Bar Graphs

Reading bar graphs with four groups: how many more, how many fewer, how many in all, and which question a class survey can answer.

Benchmark: 2.1.1.3; 2.1.1.4 · showing data in picture and bar graphs and making predictions from them
