How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practice.
- Count by fractions like counting by 1s: 1/4, 2/4, 3/4.
- The bottom number tells the size of the parts.
- Repeated addition is multiplication: 3 groups of 2/5.
Example: Count by fourths: 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, what comes next? The top number grows by 1. 4/4 is one whole. Answer: 4/4
