How we explain it

Children can open this short lesson before they practice.

  1. Animals live where they find food, water and a home.
  2. Frogs live near ponds. Squirrels live near trees.
  3. People change places too, like planting a garden.

Example: Where does a fish live? A fish needs water to swim. It lives in a lake or stream. Answer: in water

Where Animals Live in Texas

In the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), this is unit 8 of 11 in Kindergarten Science, after Plant Parts at Work and before Magnets & Light.

Gradelings describes a child's practice on this unit as Beginning, Approaching, Meeting or Exceeding (Four practice steps). That reflects practice, not a report-card mark: the teacher decides the mark.
